Welcome to the MLK Drum Major for Service

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2017

Thank you for honoring your Martin Luther King, Jr. Day heroes through the President’s Volunteer Service Award.  This is a special program designed to recognize your heroes with the President’s Volunteer Service Award on MLK Day.  The certificate features a special commemorative logo honoring the MLK Day of Service. For more information about the MLK Day of Service and the Drum Majors for Service award go here.

You have two options to recognize your volunteers:

Option 1 – MLK Drum Major for Service Award recognizes an individual based on the qualities of the person you nominate with a commemorative certificate of appreciation.

Option 2 – MLK Drum Major for Service President's Volunteer Service Award recognizes an individual based on the number of hours an individual serves over a 12-month period.

Getting Started

Please familiarize yourself with the steps below before you get started.  With our new website, some details have changed from last year. If you would like to return to the President's Volunteer Service Award homepage click here.

Setting up your account

  1. To order either option of the MLK Drum Major for Service awards, you must register and set up an account with PVSA.  This allows you permission to review and certify the volunteers you wish to honor.

  2. Please allow 10-15 minutes to set up your account if you are new.  All new program participants are required to take a short E-Course on the program to become an officially registered participating organization.

  3. Once you have registered, your application will be reviewed, and once approved you will receive an email with your login and password. Please be sure to check your spam mail. Some firewalls block .gov correspondence.

  4. Please be sure to add inquiries@presidentialserviceawards.gov in your address contacts to confirm receipt of your approval email.

  5. If you already participate with the PVSA program, all you need to do is log in.

Ordering awards

  1. Production time for all orders requires 10 full business days from the time the order is submitted.

  2. Customers have the option to select their delivery method of choice.  This includes a selection of UPS overnight delivery to UPS Ground delivery.

  3. We recommend paying by credit card. Only select the check option if you are placing your order with plenty of time. Orders are not released into production until payment is received.

  4. To receive your awards by January 11, all orders must be placed by December 22. Orders placed after December 22 will not be guaranteed delivery by January 11 due to holiday schedules for UPS.
